Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission- Ghaziabad

Under the guidance and directions of Dr. G. N. Singh, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director and DCG (I), one day workshop on “Awareness of Indian Pharmacopoeia and Indian Pharmacopoeia Reference Standards (IPRS)” was organized by Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Ghaziabad in collaboration with CDSCO sub zone, Chandigarh on dated 17th March 2015 at PGIMER, Chandigarh. The workshop was inaugurated by chief guest Shri Navneet Marwaha, State Drug Controller, Himanchal Pradesh. He delivered inspirational speech for all the participants and emphasized on strengthening the bond between industry and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission to provide best quality drugs to the country.

Total 215 participants from Baddi, Chandigarh and surrounding areas had participated in the workshop. Out of these, 170 participants were from industries, laboratories and remaining participants were from the regulatory and government organization.

In the workshop, forenoon session were focused on presentation on Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) and IP Reference Standards (IPRS), working standard and also the regulatory aspects related with stability studies. The workshop includes presentation from experts and also face to face interaction with the participants. Presentation on topics like Role of Indian Pharmacopoeia in ensuring quality medicines, Maintenance of primary standard and effective use of working standards, IP reference substance and effective use of impurity standard, Practical and regulatory aspects of stability studies and process validation were given by various experts.

After lunch, two hour panel discussion was held with IPC scientists on Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) and IP Reference Standards (IPRS). The panel discussion provided the very good platform for interaction and addressing many important issues related to Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) and IP Reference Standards (IPRS) etc. Feedback forms were also taken from the participants.
