1. Library Hours- The library shall remain open to the Official(s)/ user(s) of IPC on all working days except on National and Gazetted Holidays,However, in case of urgency of work on holidays, the library will open for official purpose only.
Library Timings - Library remains open from 9.00 A.M. to 5.30 P.M. on all working days.
2. Admission to the Library
(i) All the IPC Officials are allowed to use the library resources whereas outsiders/visitors may be allowed with the prior permission of the Secretary-cum-Scientific Director of IPC.
(ii) All users shall fill membership form and submit in the library.
(iii) All users shall sign in the visitor register at the entrance as a token of their acceptance to adhere to the rules of the library.
(iv) Personal belongings such as bags, umbrellas, books and other reading materials, etc. must be kept in the property counters of library at own risk. Individual(s) may take a note book or a few sheets of white paper for making their notes.
(v) User(s) shall switch-off their cell phone while entering in the library.
(vi) Absolute silence shall be observed inside and in the vicinity of the library.
3. General
(i) All Officers/ Officials, scholars and trainees of the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission are entitled to become library members. They shall submit duly filled membership form, forwarded by their concerned Head of the Division(s) to the Library.
(ii) IPC Contractual Staff are entitled to become library member and they can use/ consult library resources within the library only.
(iii) All Head of Division(s) shall inform to the Library division about undergoing trainees / visitors of various institutions in their Division.
(iv) IPC related advertisement / news which will be published by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) in any National Newspaper it should be informed to Library Division for the record / reference purpose.
(v) The Individual(s) is/are liable for penalty, if they either misbehave or damage the books or any other property of the library.
(vi) No tracing or mechanical reproduction of materials shall be made without the prior permission of the Library & Information Officer.
(vii) Individual(s) shall not misplace books from their positions in the almirah.
(viii) All publications going out from the library will have to be shown to the library attendant/ MTS.
(ix) Photocopying services shall be available for the IPC library materials free of cost after making necessary entries and signing in the logbook of photocopy for the official purpose.
(x) Individual(s) is/are responsible for complying with copyright act while photocopying library documents.
(xi) Books or other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers. Books should be left on the reading table after consultation/ use.
(xii) Newspapers, magazines and journals must be read only in the library and should not be taken to any other Division.
(xiii) The computers in the internet section of the library are to be used only for official reference and access to online journals, database and publications. Use of internet facility for recreation or entertainment should be avoided. Use of chat apps/ messengers is not permitted. Only one user is permitted to use a computer at a time and no bystanders will be allowed.
(xiv) Smoking, eating, sleeping and talking loudly are strictly prohibited in the library.
4. Borrowers, their privileges and obligations
(i) The books will be issued only on the physically presence of the individual.
(ii) The privilege of individuals in respect of borrowing documents is 02 books for a period of 15 days.
(iii) Books that are in special demand may be issued for such shorter period as may be necessary and the books issued may be recalled at any time, if required.
(iv) Reference books, multi-volume collections, serial publications, newspapers and non-print materials (CDs, DVDs, etc.) may not be issued, generally except with the prior permission of the Competent Authority.
(v)Marking on books/ journals, etc. with pencil or ink, soiling, underlining, writing remarks on pages, folding tearing of pages, etc. in any way is strictly prohibited. The borrower will be required to pay the current cost and penalty for such offences.
(vi) Library books and documents must be treated with honour, and it is prohibited to mutilate, underline, overwriting or pull out/ torn out pages from the books, journals, etc.
(vii) In case any book is lost or damaged by the borrower(s), borrower shall be liable to replace the book or bear the current cost of replacement. If a book is one part of the multi volumes of a set, the borrower(s) may be asked to replace the all volumes set.
(viii) Any library user, who violates the rules and regulations of the library, would be liable to lose the privilege of library membership.
5. Renewal/Reservation of Books
(i) The Books will be renewed within 15 days from the date of issues for the individual. Books issued can be renewed only once. However, if there is no demand from other users, a book may be re-issued after it is returned.
(ii) Renewal of books will be permitted, if there are no reservations against those books. For renewals, books have to be presented physically to the library.
(iii) The loan period of a book is 15 days. The Library & Information Officer, in special circumstances, might call back any book/ document at any time from an individual, even if the period of loan has not expired.
(iv) Individual(s) can reserve the books which are already issued. The reserved books, after their return, will be kept at the counter for two days for issue to those have reserved. If they fail to collect the books within two days, the books will be given to the individual(s) in the waiting list.
