Mr. Sudhansh Pant, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India visited Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) on 8th September, 2023. Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General India (DCGI) & Secretary-cum-Scientific Director-IPC welcomed the Secretary. Dr. Kiran Karlapu, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India also accompanied the Secretary.

Glimpses of the visit of Sh. Sudhansh Pant in the IPC

Mr. Sudhansh Pant took review of the scientific activities of the IPC and the progress of the construction of the Advance Level research Centre (ALRC) in the IPC. Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi made a presentation about various activities and achievements of the IPC since its creation in 2009. He informed about the publication status of the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP) and National Formulary of India (NFI) along with development of the IP Reference Substances (IPRS) and Impurity standards. In addition, current global status of recognition of the IP in various countries and IPC’s participation in the PDG were also briefed. Progress of the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI) in past years was also presented before the Secretary. Mr. Sudhansh Pant emphasized that the IPC should develop digital IP platform for easy access by the stakeholders.

Thereafter, Mr. Sudhansh Pant had a tour of all Divisions of the IPC to have discussion with IPC scientists. He also monitored the progress of the ALRC building by having a tour of the under construction laboratory. The visit ended with plantation by Mr. Sudhansh Pant in the IPC Campus.
