15th International Meeting of World Pharmacopoeias (IMWP) Inaugurated in New Delhi
The 15th International Meeting of World Pharmacopoeias (IMWP), hosted by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) under the aegis of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), commenced in New Delhi today. The meeting brings together global pharmacopoeial leaders, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders to discuss pharmaceutical standards, harmonization, and regulatory convergence.
Hon’ble Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Smt. Anupriya Patel, inaugurated the event and reaffirmed India's leadership in global pharmaceutical standardization. She emphasized India's role as the "Pharmacy of the World" and the significance of international collaboration in pharmacopoeial science. On this occasion, she also released the IPC Newsletter 2024 and a special IPC video film, highlighting India's contributions to pharmaceutical quality standards. Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, underscored the importance of global partnerships in strengthening regulatory frameworks. Dr. Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director, IPC, and Drugs Controller General (India), highlighted IPC’s initiatives, including the IP Online platform, enhancing accessibility to Indian Pharmacopoeia standards.
The 15th IMWP, scheduled to conclude on 7th February 2025, will focus on key areas such as impurity assessment, regulatory harmonization, sustainability in pharmacopoeial practices, and defining the IMWP Charter. The discussions will shape future global collaborations in pharmaceutical standard-setting and quality assurance.
